Expressing her shock and grief, the veteran actress said, “I am so sorry to hear this. I have known Dilip uncle as a child and then I got the honour of working with him. We were Pali Hill kids. I absolutely loved talking to him; he would tell me all about his experiences. I loved working with him too. I was fortunate to have known him. I am really sad.”
Dilip Kumar’s close family friend and aide Faisal Farooqui, on Wednesday, shared that the legendary actor had passed away in the presence of his wife Saira Banu, other family members, and doctors. Many Bollywood celebrities including filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, Vidya Balan, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Shabana Azmi, and others arrived at Dilip saab’s house to pay their last respects to the legendary actor. The last rites will be held at a cemetery around 5 pm today.
Dilip Kumar was recently hospitalised on June 6 after experiencing breathlessness. He was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion — a build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs and underwent a successful pleural aspiration procedure. He was discharged after five days.
The legendary actor has films like ‘Devdas’, ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Mughal-E-Azam’, ‘Ganga Jamuna’, ‘Kranti’, ‘Karma’, ‘Qila’ and many others to his credit.
