Taking to his official handle, the star struck a pose with his director and co-star Taika Waititi and revealed that it was finally time for the curtain call on this ambitious venture.
“That’s a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder, it’s also national don’t flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate,” Hemsworth quipped.
He went on to add, “The film is gonna be batshit crazy off the wall funny and might also pull a heart string or two. Lots of love, lots of thunder! Thank you to all the cast and crew who made this another incredible Marvel journey. Buckle in, get ready and see ya in cinemas!!”
Not one for teary goodbyes, Oscar-winning director Waititi also shared the photo and penned a hilarious note that read, “And that’s a wrap on Thor: Love and Thunder. Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the cinematic landscape forever. And then there’s me and @chrishemsworth who are too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy.”
Opening up about his journey with the Marvel film, he said, “This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honoured to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022.”
While fans flooded the comments section to share their excitement about the film, fellow Marvel and DC stars like Jeremy Renner and Dwayne Jhonson, congratulated Hemsworth and the team on the successful wrap.
‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ will see Hemsworth return as the God of Thunder and will also mark the return of Natalie Portman. Buzz is that the actress will take over the mantle and assume the title of Lady Thor. The film will also see Karen Gillan, Tessa Thompson, Matt Damon, Russell Crowe, Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill, Sean Gunn and Jaimie Alexander return to play their parts.
Christian Bale will take over the villainous role of Gorr the God Butcher. Although much is not known about his role in the film, rumours are rife that the star may just have a bigger role to play in the MCU, considering that his character is much more powerful than even Thanos.
trilogy has grossed $1.94 billion at the global box office to date. The Waititi-directorial ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, became the highest-grossing instalment of the franchise with an estimated collection of $853.9 million worldwide.
